
At the turn of the year 2025, a significant change will come into force that will have a major impact on financial management in German companies: the mandatory introduction of electronic invoicing in the B2B sector. Passed by the Federal Council as part of the Growth Opportunities Act on 22 March 2024, this regulation aims to convert B2B invoices into a structured data set and completely abolish paper invoices. The mandatory application of the European standard EN16931 requires that e-invoices be created either in ZUGFeRD format (from version 2.X) or as XRechnung (CII-XML or UBL-XML).
