Success in the TOP 100: TV presenter Ranga Yogeshwar praises ehotel®
Überlingen – Ranga Yogeshwar has congratulated Berlin-based ehotel AG on its success in the TOP 100 innovation competition with a personal video message. The science journalist also praised the achievements of this year’s TOP 100 companies during a joint online conference. The occasion was the TOP 100 final, originally planned as an in-person event. Ranga Yogeshwar acts as a mentor for the innovation competition, now in its 28th year. In the scientific selection process, ehotel® impressed in size category A (up to 50 employees), particularly in the ‘Innovation Success’ category. The company has now been named among the top innovators for the fifth time.

In the early 2000s, ehotel® was one of the first hotel booking portals to venture into the market. The company quickly specialised in business travel. On a single platform, ehotel® brings together travel managers, buyers, hotels and business travellers, using digital innovations to make booking as convenient as possible. Meta-search technology is at the heart of the company. Around 1.5 million hotels worldwide are connected to this search engine. It also utilises data from around 600 other booking systems, thereby identifying all available rooms at the best rates in real time. 2020 was a particularly difficult year for the hospitality industry. Industry turnover plummeted by 90 per cent. Managing Director Fritz Zerweck kept his team together during this difficult time and sought solutions for his company and its customers. In spring 2020, for instance, extensive checks were carried out to determine which hotels were still offering accommodation at all. Using the company’s in-house analysis programme, business customers can locate their travelling employees worldwide and quickly bring them back from abroad. “Crises like this spark new ideas,” says Zerweck. “We don’t yet know where the journey will take us, but we are creative and think ahead. That is what makes us so strong and innovative.”
